on your home page. go to your friend space and there will be a "change top friends" option.
when you click that, the next page will show all of your friends.
top left hand corner will have a drop down list of the size of top friends. from 4 to 40.

No sorry, I am pretty sure you can only have the ones mentioned which is like 4 at a minimum then like up to 40ish...

at one time i had a top 4..
and i went to change my top friends..
i searched for the friend i wanted to exchange..
once she popped up..
i changed my number of friends in my top to 8..
and since it had no one else to put in the top..
i had a top 5..

well idk if there is another option. but what my cousin did is get a photobucket... then uploaded pictures of the people she wanted to be on her top 2. then she selected the pictures. then she clicked generate HTML and IMG codes. i think it's the first one - "HTML clickable thumbnails for Ebay, Livejournal, MySpace, etc. - recommended"
oh yeah, select one picture at a time.
but change the a href URL to your friend's myspace URL... and voila. pictures of them that goes to their website.

a few times i had a top 4 than one of them deleted their myspace so had a top three
try that
i tried doing it again few weeks ago and just put top as number 4 so i dno
